Alright techno freaks, who’s ready for techno island? That’s what we’re calling Ultra Miami’s Resistance area, because it’s no longer just a fire-breathing spider stage loosely conceptually-linked to the long-running Carl Cox Megastructure.
Thanks to Miami’s City Commission ousting the 21-year-old festival from its downtown home, the brand happily moved to Virginia Key, where it seems to be taking full advantage of expanded square-footage and a two-hour nightly programming increase. It’s been announced that the Resistance brand will now enjoy three stages of music from 2 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. daily, and the stages sound massive.
The famous Carl Cox Megastructure plays main vein, with each night headlined by its founding father — who will be joined for a special back-to-back by a surprise guest. A second stage will feature top-tier talent, with Saturday programming by Richie Hawtin. A third stage called The Arrival, provided by Burning Man’s PLAYGROUND sound camp.

Miami Approves Ultra Music Festival Move to Virginia Key
There are some killer back-to-backs planned throughout the three-day event. Adam Beyer will take helm with Eric Prydz’ alter ego Cirez D. Jamie Jones and Joseph Capriati offer an Ultra exclusive b2b, while Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber and Paco Osuna reprise their Resistance b3b. The rest of the lineup is stacked with sets from Black Coffee, The Martinez Brothers, Hot Since 82, a special performance from deadmau5‘s techno alias Testpilot, and more.
